The Waterfront Playhouse box office is officially open for holiday ticket sales for "Closer Than Ever." The cabaret style musical revue offers heart warming musical entertainment for the entire family. Produced by the Key West Players, the show runs Dec. 16 to Jan. 8.
Written by Maltby & Shire, the team that also scored "Big," "Miss Saigon" and other Broadway hits, "Closer Than Ever" weaves fresh lyrics and original tunes together in a way proven to delight audiences. Its comic but poignant look at the upwardly mobile times covers everything from parenthood to trophy wives, working moms to biological clocks.
Musical director Vincent Zito, who directed the show's first regional production in 1993, says this piece is a singer's dream. "Closer than Ever: is written to show off the singers' voices," he says. "And we've got some great voices here."
Staged by director Daniel Bonnett, the show stars top Key West performers Melissa Goins Tausche, Eric Davis, Frances Edge and Jim Trainor. Numbers feature difficult harmony as well as solos.
Tickets are $20 and $25; call the box office at 294-5015 for reservations. For season subscriptions, call 296-8269.
