Keys Kids Present A Country Christmas Carol This Weekend

"A Country Christmas Carol" will be presented by Keys Kids this weekend, with performances tonight, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3-5, at the San Carlos Institute.

Directed by Cameron Murray, this musical will win your heart just as "Fiddler, Jr." and "Guys & Dolls Jr." did to sell-out crowds earlier this year. Musical direction is by Nora Revelin and Daniel Bonnett.

This trio has an experienced cast, which is comprised of students from all the Key West elementary schools. This delightful musical is the third production of this season following performances of "Guys & Dolls, Jr." and most recently "Our Town" at the Tennessee Williams.

This foot-stompin' musical adaptation has Scrooge in Texas with the name G.R. Scrooge (Greedy and Rotten, according to his victim). The famous "Bah, humbug!" has taken on a simple country "bull!"

The same message is included in this production: greed is bad, love is good; money is not what makes a person rich. When the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future show Scrooge the error of his ways, he gets the message and so will the audience.

Scrooge is played by Bryce McBratnie with Ryan Lee in the role as the prospector Digger, Trevor Rich as the Sheriff, Kimmy Parker as Scrooge's fiancee, Victoria Phillips as Sadie Sasparilla, owner of the local saloon and Brett Estenoz as her daughter Sallie Mae. The Cratchit Family includes D. J. Parker as Bob, Morgan Fraga as his wife, Brittany Mariscal as Nancy and Jack Lockwood as Tiny Tim.

Kelsey Tillman is the evangelist with Rafe Halpern as her assistant. Funny Patrick Romanoff returns as Ace Diablo, the flashy gambler with his doll at his side played by Angelica Domenich.

The show opens tonight, Dec. 3, at 7:30, with two matinees on Sat., Dec. 4 and Sun., Dec. 5 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available at MacArthur Music and at Gerald Adams School and are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

They'll be servin' country chili before and during intermission so save yer appetite!
