Christine Cordone Trips Through Time At Berlin's

by Valerie Ridenour

Berlin's was packed for Christine Cordone's 50th birthday bash. Every singer in town not working on Sunday was there, Al Cotoia, Bob Smith, Kathleen Peace, Frances Edge, Joel Hemenway, Mary Beese, Gary Chase, and more. Mike Rutherford played drums and sang with Bob on a totally nutso version of is hit song, during which he played Elvis and implored Pat Green, "Priscilla, Priscilla.....". The Smith's family was present, Larry's mom and dad and Daughter Journey Blue Heaven, who will be this week's guest. She sang back-up.

As promised, Christine sang every number one tune of her life beginning with 1949's "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth' (Spike Jones). Here's the list: "Put Another Nickle In" (Theresa Brewer), Cry (Johnny Ray), "You Belong To Me" (Jo Stafford), "How Much Is That Doggie In the Window (Patti Page), "Secret Love" (Doris Day), "Autumn Leaves" (Roger Williams), Love Me Tender (Elvis), "That'll Be the Day" (Buddy Holly and the Crickets), "Sugartime"(the McGuire Sisters), "Battle Of New Orleans" (Johnny Horton, I'm Sorry" (Brenda Lee), "Will You Love Me Tomorrow' (the Shirelles), "the Twist" (Chubby Checker), "You're So Fine" (the Chiffons), "I Want To Hold Your Hand" (the Beatles, "Mr. Tambourine Man" (the Byrds), "These Boots Were Made For Walking" (Nancy Sinatra), "Grooving" (the Young Rascals, "hey Jude" (the Beatles), "Leaving On a Jet Plane" (Peter, Paul, and Mary), and the list goes on. Christine told us the stage of her life when every song happened and changed accessories to costume the tune (a feather boa and hat for Joplin, etc.). Her singing was marvelous and Larry was divine as accompanist and harmony voice,

We continue: "Venue" (Shocking Blue), "Me and Bobby McGee" ( Janis), "Without You", Harry Niellson, "Delta Dawn" (Helen Reddy), "Annie's Song" (John Denver, "You're No Good" (Linda Ronstadt),"Shake Your Booty" (K.C. and the Sunshine Boys), D\"Dreams" (Stevie Nicks,"You Needed Me" (Anne Murray), "Heart Of Glass", Blondie, "Sailing" (Christopher Cross, "Bette Davis Eyes" (Kim Carnes), "Hey Mickey", (Toni Basil), "Sweet Dreams" (theEurythmics), "Time After Time" (Cindi Lauper, "Saving All My Love For You" (Whitney Houston, "Walk Like An Egyptian" (the Bangles), "Mony, Mony" (Tommy James and the Shondells(, 'Red Red Wine", (UB 40), "If You Don't Know Me By Now" (Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes), "Have a Heart" (Bonnie Raitt), "Everything I Do" (Bryan Adams), "I Will Always Love You" (Whitney Houston), "All I Want To Do" (ASheryl Crow), "One Hand In My Pocket" (Alannis Morrisette, "What If God Was One Of Us" (Joan Osbourne, "Because You Love Me" (Celine Dion), "Sunny Came Home" (Shawn Colvin,"Still the One" (Shania Twain, and "This Life Ain't Good Enough" (Matchbox 40).

I've never seen a better show, and believe me this was a show. Christine Cordone is a star. Thank you for your birthday present to us. Learning all those tunes was an incredile feat for both Christine and Larry. Didn't I tell you we have the best here? Stay cool
