Blues, Funk, roots, and jazz are the jewels in the crown of Atlanta's King Johnson band, appearing
at The Green Parrot Bar on Friday and Saturday, March 22-23, at 10 p.m., and Sunday, March 24 at
the special time of 8:30 p.m. The band's name pays homage to the great legends: B.B. King, Albert King,
and Freddie King, and all the Johnsons Robert, Blind Willie, Tommy, and several Luthers. All five
members sing, providing strong vocals and ultra-sweet harmonies, and all five can PLAY. Hot and sweaty
horn-driven Memphis blues, funky New Orleans' R&B, revved up shuffle grooves, and Latin tinged and
percussion filled pieces.
The popular Lady "A" Blues Band is back at the Schooner Wharf Bar this weekend, tonight and tomorrow night, Friday and Saturday, March 22-23, 7-Midnight. Guitarist Ric Arra says his main influence has been Eric Clapton. Hear him and you'll know why. His wife, Lady A, offers her strong, raunchy blues vocals and harmonica playing.
This week's Key West Film Society flick is "The Man Who Wasn't There," written by the Coen Brothers and starring Billy Bob Thornton. Grammy nominee Larry Baeder and his band will be at Virgilio's this weekend, tonight and
tomorrow night, Friday and Saturday, March 22-23, 10 p.m. Baeder's Maximo Strut" was nominated for a variety
of Grammy Awards.
Larry Smith will be showcasing jazz singer Peter Delaney this Sunday night, March 24, at the
piano bar at the Pier House Resort, 10 p.m. Delaney will be presenting a program of jazz standards,
contemporary pop and some French songs.
