THE STRANGEWAYS, above, the Ska masters from Sarasota, will be on stage at the Green Parrot Bar tonight and tomorrow night, Friday and Saturday, September 7 and 8, 10-2. This six-piece band has just completed a 12-state tour, promoting their new CD, "Corporate Monkey."

Art Behind Bars, the art-based community service program for inmates in the Monroe County Detention Center, will celebrate its 7th birthday with a special show and party this Sunday, September 9, 4-8 p.m., at the Pier House Resort's Caribbean Spa. In addition to showcasing the artwork and community service projects of the local program, highlights of the event will include a show of inmate art from all over the country, and a silent auction featuring the work of local and national artists. There will be food, entertainment, and of course, birthday cake. The event is sponsored in part by ZONTA, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Florida Keys Council of the Arts, the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, Florida Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, private donations, and Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville.
