Dash Rip Rock Returning To Green Parrot

Dash Rip Rock, the South's most notorious band of country punksters are at it again— and no Florida road trip would be complete without a stop at the Green Parrot Bar. These psycho-billy road warriors will return to the Parrot for two wild nights this coming week, Wednesday and Thursday, June 27 and 28, 10-2.

This group's George Jones-on-acid-Hank Williams-on-crack style has garnered Dash Rip Rock fans around the country a live show that is unequaled. Parrot Manager John Vagnoni reminds Dash's hard-core fans that there will be "no naked drumming."

Dash Rip Rock calls New Orleans home, but for ten years they have been spreading their haywire roots-rock mayhem all over the planet. The band has been called "punkabilly" and "country punk", but there's just no categorizing a trio that mixes sawdust with authentic renditions of country standards and flat out hard-core barnburners in a live show that defies all sane or sober description. Dash Rip Rock's influences range from the Ramones to Jerry Lee Lewis to George Jones.

Dash Rip Rock has no problem accepting their world's greatest bar band status, for the simple fact that they feel the absolute best setting to hear a blazing rock n roll show is usually in some dilapidated honky tonk or a besmudged college beer hall. After years of happily toiling in the trenches, Dash seem ready to break out and raise the roof. With their new album, a recent tour with Hootie and the Blowfish, and sheer desperate perseverance, the Bad Boys of the Bayou may finally be getting their due on the national scene.

At the Parrot tonight and tomorrow night, Friday and Saturday, June 22-23: The Texas Party Killers.

Rustic Overtones At Schooner Tuesday

A ROCK BAND FROM MAINE? That's right. The Portland-based Rustic Overtones hit the satge at the Schooner Wharf Bar this coming Tuesday, June 26, 7-11. Are these guys any good? Well, David Bowie sings backup vocals on two tracks on their latest album.

Cassell At Showcase

Larry Smith's Sunday Showcase will feature singer Jill Cassell this Sunday, June 24, at the Pier House Galley. The music starts at 10 p.m. Larry says Jill will be singing songs of contemporary female artists with a little Patsy Cline thrown in.
