Free Stuff For Locals

June is Locals Month at most of the Historic Tours of America attractions. Show proof of residency and get in free at the Key West Aquarium, Key West Shipwreck Historeum, Flagler Station Over-sea Railway Historeum, Harry S. Truman Little White House and the Schooner Western Union. Reservations are required for the Western Union and complimentary admission for locals is for the day sail only. Reservations: 292-1766. Locals can also sign up for their Hometown Pass, which gives locals free admission anytime of the year with a paying guest. Applications are available at all of the attractions. Heritage Scholarship

The Cuban American Festival has presented its first college scholarship. The recipient is Key West High School senior Elimelech "Eli" Risse. The award was presented to Risse on Class Night by Freed Salinero, president of the Cuban American Festival. "Since her arrival from Cuba six years ago, Eli has learned English and maintained a 3.47 grade average in a rigorous college prepatory program," Salinero said.
