Memorial Service For Jeff MacNelly Monday

There will be a memorial service for Jeff MacNelly at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 401 Duval St. at Eaton, this Monday, March 5, at 5 p.m. MacNelly, a Pulitzer-prize-winning political cartoonist, wintered here with his wife, Sue, for years before his death last June.



Free Stuff For Locals

If you're a resident of Monroe County, you can get in free at the following attractions this Sunday, March 4: Key West Aquarium, Key West Shipwreck Historeum, Flagler Station Over-sea Railway Historeum and the Harry S. Truman Little White House. You can also take a day sail on the Schooner Western Union. You'll need reservations for the Western Union sail: 292-1766.

Locals can also get a free Historic Tours of America (HTA) Hometown Pass. A Hometown Pass gives locals free admission to any of the attractions all year when they bring along a paying guest. Hometown Pass applications are available at all of the attractions listed above.



Marion Stevens Fund To Be Managed By Community Foundation

A charitable fund established by longtime Key West community activist and patron of the arts, Marion Stevens, will be administered by the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys., it was announced by Ed Block, foundation board chair, and Joe Barker, representing the trustees of her estate. Ms. Stevens died in May of last year. The value of the fund is "in excess of a half-million dollars," a Community Foundation spokesman said.

"Grants from the fund will reflect Ms. Stevens' personal interests in community betterment," Barker said. "They include, visual and performing arts, education, the environment, children and teen needs and organizations that strive to abolish discrimination and advance the quality of life for future generations."
