Even if you're not a sailor, Yachting Key West Race Week is a big deal here. First of all, this event provides a major boost for the local economy. There are a record 327 boats competing this year and the organizers say that about seven people come to town with each boat. And when these folks aren't sailing, they know how to party down. And, in that department, Key West knows how to play host. Starting this weekend, there are special parties and events almost everywhere.
The races are scheduled Monday through Friday, Jan. 15-19. Many of the boats are docked at the Key West Bight. You can watch the races from the White Street Pier and Ft. Zack.
