Cop Cars Win National Design Award

The Key West Police Department's unique new car design has won second place over 300 entries in the municipal category in a national competition sponsored by Law and Order magazine. A photograph of a Key West police car with the palm tree and sun design was featured in the July issue. The department will receive a specially-inscribed plaque and the magazine is donating the $200 cash prize to the Boys and Girls Club and the Police Athletic League, at the request of Chief Buz Dillon. Last year a team of officers developed several new design proposals, then all the officers voted for what literally turned out to be a winner.
