Led by the Flagship Schooners Wolf and Western Union, the parade will begin at 7:20 p.m. in the historic Key West harbor, off the U.S. Coast Guard base. The parade route will follow the waterfront passing the Galleon, Hyatt, Pier House, Mallory Square, Hilton and Fort Zachary Taylor.

You can also book passage on the Wolf (296-9653) or the Western Union (292-1766) to participate in the parade and for a super view of the fireworks display at 9 p.m.

Prior to the Naval Parade, a traditional 4th of July BBQ will be served up by Schooner Wharf's Galley. Festivities will continue at Schooner Wharf Bar after the fireworks with an Awards Ceremony party.

4th Of July Picnic

The annual July 4 Hospice/VNA picnic fundraiser at the Wyndham Casa Marina is the biggest event in Key West celebrating our country's birthday. Through the generous participation of many individual and business sponsors the event is not only the party of the day on the island, but also the major annual fundraiser for the respected and appreciated county-wide organization.

The event is held on the main lawn of the resort from 5-9 p.m. At 9 p.m., the popular fireworks display, produced and sponsored by the Key West Rotary, caps off the days' festivities.

This year, a special reserved seating area has been created— directly on the beach in front of the Casa Marina's great lawn where guests may enjoy the festivities of the party with waterside tables and access to a private bar area. And of course, they are the best seats in the house to watch the fireworks. Info: 294-8812.

Tickets are $6 for students and $10 for adults.

The Young People's Theatre Project is being sponsored by Key West Players under the Bahama Village Theatre Lab Project. Directed by London's Joss Bennathan, Monroe County students are now conceiving, preparing, and performing an innovative theatrical collaboration. They are also learning the technical side of theatre— costumes, make-up, props, scriptwriting, lights, choreography, and such.
