Seven Mile Bridge To Close For Run Next Saturday Morning

If you're planning to drive out of the Keys next Saturday, April 29, remember that the Seven Mile Bridge will be closed from 7-9 a.m. for the annual Seven Mile Bridge Run.



Another Dinner Cruise To Benefit Reef Relief

Another dinner cruise and concert aboard the Schooner Appledore to benefit Reef Relief is set for next Saturday, April 22— Earth Day— 9-11 p.m.

Dinner will be provided by Salute Ristorante Sul Mare, with wine from Antonia's. The concert will feature singer/songwriter/guitarist Millicent Cummings and Eveready, a popular barbershop quartet.

Tickets are $50 and are available from Reef Relief, 201 William St., the Schooner Appledore ticket booth, or by calling 294-3100.



Buquebus Officials Say they'll Be Ready To Run By Fall

Buquebus has take possession of the high speed ferry, Thomas Edison, that will operate between Fort Myers and Key West. She is awaiting a berth at Derecktor Ship Yards in New York where necessary modifications will be made, and the vessel completed. This process will take from two to three months. Therefore, Buquebus anticipates service to begin between Fort Myers and Key West in the fall of 2000.

The arbitration with the shipyard which built the boat is still ongoing but with the possession action last week Buquebus will finally be able to move forward with the Florida route. The dispute with the Pequot River Shipworks arose last summer when the shipyard installed liferafts and other safety equipment, which did not comply with US Coast Guard and International Rules.



Stock Island Cleanup Tomorrow

Volunteers are needed to help clean up Stock Island on Earth Day, tomorrow, Saturday, April 22. If you can help, meet at Bernstein Park at 9 a.m. Bring gloves. The focus of the cleanup is Lincoln Gardens. If you live on stock Island, and you can't participate in this organized cleanup, please clean up your own property. Info: 296-1391 or 296-3791.
