The Green Parrot and the Schooner Wharf Bar continue to build on their reputations as the two top music venues on the island.
Texas blues harmonicat Gary Primich is at the Parrot both tonight and Saturday, March 31-April 1, 10-2.
On Saturday night, Michael Locke and the Repeat Offenders bring their electric blues to the Schooner Wharf, 7-Midnight. These guys have opened shows on both ends of the country for the likes of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, B.B. King and Johnny Nitro.
The Red Elvises, famed Siberian surf rockers, return to the Green Parrot for two nights, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 4-5, starting at 10. VH1 produced a documentary about this band and they've appeared in four movies.
Big Jack Johnson recognized as one of the best blues guitarists anywhere will be at the Schooner Wharf Bar Wednesday night, April 5, 9-11. He and his band, the Oilers, will be laying down some genuine
Satirist David Sedaris, one of National Public Radio's most popular and humorous commentators, will appear this Wednesday evening, April 5, at the Tennessese Williams Fine Arts Center. This week's Key West Film Society flick is "The Straight Story," starring Sissy Spacek and Harry Dean Stanton. Richard Farnsworth was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of an old man who travels across two states on a lawnmower to reconcile with his aging brother. Three shows at San Carlos: Sat., April 1, 8 p.m., and Sun., April 2, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. $5 for members; $7 for non-members.
It's not too late to enter the Turtle Kraals Sixth Annual 5K Walk/Run Race, set for Saturday, April 1, at 8 a.m. The race begins at the historic Turtle Kraals Restaurant, 231 Margaret St., and takes runners and walkers through Old Town Key West and along the scenic waterfront on Trumbo Point.
