Fabulous Fleetwoods Have Two Gigs This Weekend

THE FABULOUS FLEETWOODS have two gigs in town this weekend. Tonight, Friday, Jan. 7, they're at the Schooner Wharf Bar, from 7 p.m. Tomorrow night, Saturday, they'll hit the stage at the Green Parrot Bar at 10 p.m. This popular South Florida band mixes it up with R&B, Tex Mex, Funk, Boogie, and good old Rock and Roll. They've shared billing with Johnny winter, John Mayall, James Cotton, Buddy Guy, and are staples at popular festivals including Sunfest, Riverwalk Blues Festival, Hollywood Blues Fest, and Pompano Seafood Festival.

"Anything Goes"At TWFAC

Cole Porter's "Anything Goes" will be presented at Tennessee Williams Fine Arts Center this Monday and Tuesday evenings, Jan. 10-11. Gloria Loring stars.

Showtime is &:30 p.m. on Monday and 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

The action takes place on the main deck, staterooms and brig of the S.S. America, a luxury ship sailing from New York to England. The show has a large cast of some 32 singers and dancers.

A clever set with four revolving doors makes for lightning fast entrances and exits. Musical accompaniment will be played by an eight-piece band which plays from the top deck.

Art Gallery Openings

Three Legged Dog Gallery— An exhibit of paintings by Sarasota artist Jimmy Gordon opens tonight, Friday, Jan. 7, at the new Three Legged Dog Art Gallery, 1102 White St. The artist's reception is set for 7-9 p.m. The exhibit— entitled "The Fish Thrower Show" will run through Jan. 21.

Gallery On Greene— What's an Alpaca Potato? Find out next Wednesday, Jan. 12, when Key West artist Dale Dapkins' exhibit of new paintings opens at the Gallery on Greene. The artist's reception is set for 6-9 p.m. Dapkins, the 1999-2000 Hemingway Short Story Contest winner, will also read from his prize-winning story.

Woodenhead— The second annual home furnishing show— art for the home— opens tonight, Friday, Jan. 7, 7 p.m., at Woodenhead Gallery, 907 Caroline St. rear. The show will include sculptural chairs, tables, desks, lamps, mirrors, vessels and other design accessories by local artisans. Info: 294-3935.
