Monroe County leads the state in percent of students meeting graduation requirements, according to a Nov. 17 memo from State Commissioner of Education Tom Gallagher. Ninety percent of Monroe grade 11 students meet the graduation requirements in communications and 89 percent meet the requirements in Mathmatics. The state average in communications is 81 percent; the state average in mathmatics is 77 percent.
The rankings and scores are based on the combined results from the 1999 Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test and the 1999 High School Competency Test.
