Holiday Parade Set For December 7

Remember last year's dazzling Key West winter Holiday Parade and the fun-filled Children's Holiday Festival at Bayview Park? Organizers in the Key West City Manager's Office say it's not too soon for people to start thinking about ideas for floats and marching groups for the Dec. 7 parade and booths for the Dec. 8 festival.

"Next time your group gets together, talk it up and start brainstorming creative ideas for Key West's big holiday events," said Maria Ratclifff, executive assistant to City Manager Julio Avael. Anyone with questions may reach her at 292-8100.

Toys For Tots Golf Event Set For November 3

The money the Key West Police Department Toys for Tots program uses to buy Christmas presents for about 200 needy Key West kids comes from the proceeds of their annual golf tournament, scheduled for Sunday, November 3. Organizers are looking for hole sponsors and prizes.

"The prizes are a big draw for players," said event coordinator Ellie Barker. "We're looking for prizes in fours so that every player in a foursome gets the same item."

New Look: Sloppy Joe's Website

The new Sloppy Joe¹s website at www.sloppyjoes.com went live last month. Sloppy Joe¹s and FloridaKeys.com worked together to complete the updated look.

The idea was to create a site that was informative, up-to-date, and captures everything Sloppy Joe¹s offers. Sloppy Joe¹s has something for everyone, and the look represents the different transitions the bar goes through, from quite mornings, to laid-back afternoons, to dancing into the night.

In addition, a new live streaming web cam has been added to compliment the current two web cams, and the Duval Street still and live cams. The video cam is positioned to capture entertainment and happenings in the bar for those who are far away, but here in spirit.

Content includes: current news; trivia; entertainment schedules; artists bios; menu; souvenirs; screen savers; e-cards; events schedule; and more.
