Another hot week of music is set at the Green Parrot Bar. Tonight and tomorrow night, Friday and Saturday, May 10-11, the Hep Cat Boo Daddies hit the stage at 10 p.m. One of South Florida's top bands, they will rock the house with high-energy, blues-oriented swing surf music.
Hardy Award nominee Paul Reddick & The Sidemen will be at the Parrot Tuesday and Wednesday, May 14-15, as part of a U.S. tour. This hard-driving blues band has previously toured with the likes of Buddy Guy and Colin James, and they've opened for B.B. King, James Cotton, John Mayall and Koko Taylor.
And New Orleans' Mem Shannon will be back at the Parrot on Thursday night, 10-2. Mem
was invited to play at the Muddy Waters Tribute at the Kennedy Center, where he shared the stage with
Gregg Allman, Buddy Guy, John Hiatt and other legends. He's also a regular performer at blues festivals
around the world.
The popular Lady "A" Blues Band is back at the Schooner Wharf Bar this weekend, tonight
and tomorrow night, Friday and Saturday, May 10-11, 7 `til Midnight. Guitarist Ric Arra says his main
influence has been Eric Clapton. Hear him and you'll know why. His wife, Lady A, offers her strong,
raunchy blues vocals and harmonica playing.
VIRGILIO'S Internationally-known saxophonist/flutist Franco Piacibello will share the stage with Mike Gillis, Gordy Michaels, Lonnie Jacobson and Roger Van Zant at Virgilios, this Saturday night, May 11, 10 p.m. Franco is a long-time Keys resident, but he has starred with top musicians during his career in Vegas, around the U.S. and throughout Europe. Virgilio's is on Applerouth Lane, just off Duval, adjacent to LaTrattoria.
Larry Smith will be showcasing local singer/songwriter Chief Billy, Sunday night in the piano bar at the Pier House Resort. He will be performing original compositions from his recently-released CD "Five Brothers Rhapsody". Showtime: 10 p.m.
