Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) training will be conducted by five C-2 turboprop aircraft at
the Naval Air Station from Friday, July 6, through Sunday, July 8 from about 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. These
FCLPs are designed to train pilots for late day, twilight and night aircraft carrier landings. FCLP training is
required for new pilots, but experienced pilots must also complete refresher training before beginning
a deployment.
Former City Commissioner Joe Pais is coming home. Pais, who has been working in
Tallahassee with the Dept. of State Division of Historical Resources for the past 18 months, told KWTN yesterday
that he will be back in mid-July. "I've had just about as much fun as I can have in Tallahassee . . . and I miss
Key West," he said. He said he is exploring several employment opportunities.
Reef Relief will observe Reef Awareness Week July 22-28. The organization will also be celebrating its 15th birthday. The grassroots membership organization has garnered numerous awards for its community-based programs to protect coral reefs at the local, regional and international levels. Reef Relief was organized in 1986.
