Free Stuff For Locals

June is Locals Month at the Historic Tours of America attractions in Key West. Locals only need to show proof of residency to get in free at the Key West Shipwreck Historium, Flagler Station Over-sea Railway Historium, the Harry S. Truman Little White House and day sials aboard the Schooner Western Union. Reservations are required for the Western Union sail. Call 292-1766.

Gala Benefit For Bahama Village Music Program

Pianist Franco Richmond will headline a concert/dinner benefit for the Bahama Village Music Program, this Monday, June 4, at the American Bar, Front and Simonton Streets, 8-11 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Key West Council on the Arts. Slated to join Richmond are drummer Skipper Kriptz, flutist Robin Kaplan, bassist Rob Leon, and vocalists Carmen Rodriquez, Cliff Sawyer and Kathleen Peace. Also set to appear is Othello, Miami's legendary steel pan star.

Also starring at this event will be Chef Yanni's famous Mediterranean and international buffet. Donation: $50 per person. Info and reservations: Joe Viana at 296-4761.



Black Box Theatre

Theatregoers who wish to see the Black Box Theatre presentation of Wallace Shawn's The Designated Mourner at the Waterfront Playhouse have one last chance. Sunday night, June 3, will be the final presentation of this staged reading, featuring George Gugeleotti, Jerry Campbell, and Lisa Esposito— directed by Ann Boese. This series of interwoven monologues is considered by top theatre critics to be one of this generation's best pieces of writing for the stage.
