State Sen. Daryl Jones has scheduled an hour-long Town Meeting to share ideas and concerns with citizens about affordable housing. The meeting will be tomorrow morning, Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Harvey Government Center, 1200 Truman Ave., 10-11 a.m.
"I am committed to finding ways to improve the quality of life for all individuals," he said.
"Making affordable housing a reality for hard-working, low-income families is my first priority. With local and
state officials working together, we can make this work."
City Electric is building a second transmission line between Stock Island and Big Coppitt to backup what company officials consider the "weak link" in the tieline between Key West and the mainland because of its age and inaccessibility. The existing line was built in 1969. All maintenance must be done from a barge or boat. This 5.2-mile-long upgrade will cost $5.7 million. The project is expected to be completed in June.
The company has already completed a redundant line between Tavernier and the County line.
