The Key West Players' Annual Holiday-On-Stage Gala is set for next Saturday evening, Dec. 2, at Wyndham's Casa Marina Resort. Kicking off the 2000-01 season, this black-tie optional evening promises to be a social hit. All are invited. Highlights of the evening will include a gourmet meal, entertainment by some of Key West's finest performers and a silent auction. Tickets are $50 per person. Reservations must be made by Nov. 29. Last year's event was a sellout.

The Key West Film Society flick this week is "The Tao of Steve," a Jenniphr Goodman film. Sunday, Nov. 26, 8 p.m. at the San Carlos Institute. One show only. Tickets: $5 for members; $8 for non-members. Info: 294-5857.
The Pier House and Caribbean Spa will present the ninth annual "Christmas Tree of Hope" ceremony next Friday, Dec. 1, in the hotel atrium, 7 p.m. The ceremony both observes World AIDS Day and ushers in the start of the holiday season. Guests will be invited to purchase teddy bear Christmas tree ornaments from the hotel's tree. The ornaments may be replaced on the tree with cards with personal messages. All proceeds benefit AIDS Help. Entertainment, champagne and Christmas cookies.
Friends of the Library have scheduled another book sale next Saturday, Dec. 2, in the library's Palm Garden, 10-2. Records and magazines, too. Some books will be available for $1 or less. Records will be available from 50 cents.
