tomorrow night, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11, 7 `til 11. If you haven't seen this band yet, do it. It's sort of like
an "unplugged" concert of all your favorite bands. During the day, Michael McCloud & Friends
entertain. The Reggae Party is back on Sunday evening.
ROGER "HURRICANE" WILSON (right) blows back into town for two gigs, tonight and
tomorrow night, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11, 10-2. He brings the Blues from Atlanta. The legendary Spider
John Koerner and Dave Ray will be at the Parrot on Saturday afternoon at 5, and on Sunday evening at 8.
Key West is to be transformed into a Caribbean pirates' stronghold Thursday, Nov. 23, through Sunday, Dec. 3, when Pirates in Paradise 2000 celebrates the island's rich and colorful maritime history.
Highlights of the event include a sea battle fought by the 74-foot topsail Schooner Wolf and some of Key West's other tall ships; pirate sailings and living-history encampments; a Literature and the Sea Symposium featuring some of the country's leading authors, historians and marine archaeologists whose work reflects their passion for the sea; a Village Thieves' Market featuring arts and crafts, food and drink, and entertainment by pirate reenactors; a dive trip to the site of the shipwrecked Spanish treasure galleon Nuestra Senora de Atocha; and the authentic reenactment of a pirate trial. Events are designed to appeal to anyone intrigued by the sea and its bold buccaneers.

kicking off the 2000/01 season of Impromptu Concerts, award-winning pianist Marina Lomazov performs at St. Paul's Episcopalian Church this Sunday, Nov. 12, 4 p.m.
Praised as "a diva of the piano" by the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper, Ms. Lomazov offers an imaginative program of classical selections during her first appearance in Key West, including works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Debussy.
back in her native Ukraine, Ms. Lomazov studied extensively at the Kiev Conservatory, where she became the youngest first-prize winner at the Kiev All-Piano Competition.
Since moving to the U.S. in 1990, Ms. Lomazov has earned performance degrees from both the Juilliard School in New York City, and the Eastman School of music in Rochester, N.Y., where she is currently completing her doctorate studies.
During her performing career in this country, Ms. Lomazov has won acclaim and gold medals at contests such as the 1998 Hilton Head International Piano Competition, and the 1997 National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artists Auditions, under whose auspices she has been touring the country ever since.
As a soloist, Ms. Lomazov has appeared with numerous orchestras, collaborating with conductors such as Mendi Rodan, Louis Lane, Peter Bay, and Raffi Armenian.
Winning the silver medal in the 1995 Cleveland International Piano Competition, Ms. Lomazov subsequently was the guest-of-honor on National Public Radio's "Performance Today" and "Young Artist Showcase" with Robert Sherman of WQXR in New York City.
Tickets to the concert are $20 for adults at the door. Young people under the age of 19 are
admitted free.
The Keys Kids production of "The Wizard of Oz" opens tonight, Friday, Nov. 10, at the Tennessee Williams Fine Arts Center, 7:30 pm. There will be two performances tomorrow, Saturday, at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and another matinee on Sunday. Members of the Key West Symphony Orchestra will join the 75 performers, aged 5-18, as they take the audience on a trip down the yellow brick road. Tickets are $8 for students and children, $9 for seniors and $10 for adults.
