To date, the Monroe Council of the Arts has given out over $50,000 in grant money to fund a variety of cultural programs throughout the Florida Keys, according to Executive Director Monica Haskell.
County wide projects like "Artists in Schools" and touring programs, such as the recent, highly successful Lovewell Institute theatre program, have benefited from Arts Council grant money.
Now, said Haskell, the Monroe Council of the Arts is offering another grant opportunity. Called ArtReach, the program has been established to help individual Monroe County artists and arts organizations expand their audience by reaching out to a new population or develop existing audiences through education about their art form.
Grant projects may be in any genre performance, visual or literary. Awards range from $250 to $750. Info: Monica Haskell at 294-4406.
